The K Experience

I have lived in the UK, Slough (if that counts) for about 24 years, so that's pretty much my home. I love the place. Despite it's extortionate prices, dirty streets, stuck up Londoners (not all of you), chavs (well, actually you gotta love the chavs) and general crapiness, home is home, and it will always be. However, I have decided to come to sunny California to further my studies, and I will be stuck here for the better part of 4 or 5 years. So far I've been here about 4 months. The transition has been smooth, but it hasn't gone without its difficulties. The main problem with my thinking and many others' is that, because we speak the same language (just about), we are the same. But this isn't the case, and in fact it is so important to remember that the USA and the UK are two totally different countries, with different cultures.

This is a picture of my students in Israel, during an English Camp teaching programme, run by the British Council. The first camp of two that I went to was in Sha'ar HaNegev, during the summer of 1999. I spent two weeks in total in Sha'ar HaNegev, and six weeks in Israel in total. The time I spent in Israel changed my life forever.

Takaoka, the second largest city in Toyama prefecture boasts many festivals. 御車山 (Mikurumayama or special cart festival) is one of them.

The site has only been up a few weeks, and as you do, you wanna see how it does on a google search. I registered the domain name 'thekexperience.com' a while back, but only linked it to this site recently, so the first time a googled it I didn't come up. Instead some other random stuff came up, which I didn't pay much attention to at the time. The second time I googled it was a few days after, and this time I came up second. Pretty happy with that result, I still wondered what had beaten me to the top spot and what all the other 'the k experience' types things was about.

The top one was about someones out of body exerience (OBE not to be confused with the other thing ), ok interesting enough. The second, which I was not so happy to be associated with was Ketamine, which is used legitimately by the medical profession as an anesthetic, but also by chavs and other ravers as a high. The search pulls up two youtube videos of some idiots taking ketamine. If anything it should be a warning not to take it, but I don't think the people who made the video intended it to be so.

Just for your information. This site has nothing to do with out of body experiences or ketamine, and is purely of the experiences of one person called K, hence, The K Experience.
