This ship traveled around the world, and I got a chance to see it, in both countries, well kind of anyway...

While I was in Japan, I tried to attend church as regularly as possible, but the all Japanese Seventh-Day Adventist church in Etchu Ebara wasn't really fulfilling my spiritual needs. So, I attended the JET Christian Fellowship retreats which were around Japan. They were really great, as not only was it a great excuse to travel around Japan, but was also a great way to meet lots of really cool Christians, both Japanese, and non-Japanese.christianboatguy.jpg

On the 3rd one (I think it was the 3rd one), the main speaker for the retreat (don't remember his name) was a preacher who traveled on a ship spreading the word. I thought it was kinda cool. A bit like the Japanese Peace Boat, but Christian, and with less money.

I ended up buying a couple of books which detailed stories of the boat, and the other one the Dulos which was really interesting. I left one of the books in Japan, for the guy who would be living in my apartment after I left, and took the other one back to Slough with me.

Fast forward to New Years, 2005, and I was in Tamale spending the holidays with my uncle. I picked up the paper one day, The Daily Graphic I think, which was my favorite paper when I was Ghana, and I find out that the Logos 2, one of the boats that I had heard about from that preacher in Japan, was docked at Accra, and would be leaving on the 5th. I couldn't believe my eyes. What a coincidence! I was due to leave Tamale on the 4th of January, and the boat was due to leave on the 5th. So as soon as I arrived in Accra from the 8 hour drive from Tamale, I got on a Taxi to the docks to check out the boat.

I got to the boat that evening, and I asked for the preacher guy that I saw in Japan, but it turned out that he was on a different boat. I did however, go inside and check out the books, and the CD's and other Christian material that was on sale there. I think I bought two CD's which I gave to my cousin.

I thought it was pretty cool, that I would hear about this boat at a Christian retreat in Japan, and then go and actually see the boat about 8500 miles away at the docks in Accra.
