I have no idea what kind of bird this was, but for some reason, while I was in Ghana, it took it upon itself to wake me up most mornings.... I love animals. If you've been reading this blog, you would have realised that I have had a few run ins with animals, but I still love them. I haven't been fortunate enough to have any pets of my own, but I have looked after a rabbit for a while, Bonny, she was pretty cute. I would love to have a cat or a dog, or something around the house, but alas, I'm not in the position to have one right now. It's that closeness to nature that I like, and the fact that some animals still trust us after we've screwed up the world pretty good. I kinda feel a bit guilty about that. So to have a bird wake me up most mornings, having that little connection with nature, was nice. I could never imagine being up close and personal with a lion (cheesy youtube vid alert) or anything, but having the bird chill with me in the morning and chirpy churp its little churp was nice. You don't really get that living in Westwood Village.
[Update: Thanks to Bohemian Mian for letting me know that my morning wake up was actually an African Mourning Dove. I couldn't have given it a better name.] Other Ghana Articles
