If you like your crisps (chips for the Americans) hot and spicy with a sprinkle of political satire, then these are just what you're looking for. "FEEL ALIVE!" ...why don't you...
I found these in the Aeon Mall in Takaoka, Japan a few years back. They were in a Village Vanguard store that I used to frequent. I had never been to a Village Vanguard store before I found the mall, and had never seen anything like it in my life. The store had all manner of interesting and crazy stuff, from Jazz CD's (some of which I bought), to sex toys, to posters of Che Guevara to boxes of "Blair's Death Rain".
It wasn't actually meant to be a joke on the leadership of Tony Blair, which is over now, but it wouldn't exactly be inaccurate if it was. However, it would probably say "Reign" instead of "Rain". It could also just mean a "Rain" of death, as in "It's raining men....Hallelujah" but instead "It's raining death..." (no "Hallelujah", for obvious reasons). Actually the Blair that made these is the owner of a company called Extreme Foods, and specializes in super hot and spicy snacks. You can see a video of him here, explaining what he does. I never tasted them I don't think. If I did, I don't remember. In which case they couldn't have been that good.
Apparently it's "America's favorite spicy chip". I haven't seen any in LA yet, but to be honest I haven't been looking. Other Japan Articles
