Not really the kind of outfit for a game of cricket, but the guy with camera didn't seem to mind (other guy with the camera)...
Thought I would continue with the kimono theme from the last entry about the Dancing Kimono Ladies. I took this picture in Oyabe (in the west part of Toyama prefecture) at the Calamus festival, which is a flower festival. The lady was one of three hosts all of which were dressed in Kimonos. ![]() The hosts of the Festival
There are many activities that Kimono dressed ladies can take part in, most related to entertaining in the way of dance or music. I wouldn't have thought cricket was one of them (click link for information of the sport). In fact by her quite poor display of skill in the sport, I'm quite certain it isn't.
For one the dress is far too long and restricting for those quick runs between the wickets (refer to previous link for explanation).Maybe a shorter dress would be helpful? Probably without the cape...
Now wouldn't that be interesting? Kimono clad ladies playing cricket? Hey let's not be sexist here, kimono clad men could be equally as interesting. Well maybe not equally, but interesting. Cameraman certainly found it interesting. Check out that stance...
