Pedal Steel Guy

So, I'm on my way to meet up with a group of JET friends on a Sunday night in July 04. I come down the train station stairs to catch my train and I hear the amazing sound of Mr Pedal Steel Man...

I had heard that particular sound before, and managed to pinpoint it to country music, but had never heard it live. It sounded amazing, like a really versatile guitar, which it was.

It can be described as being a 12 sting guitar neck attached to a table, with pedals (made of steel I guess), which help to bend the notes. It looked amazing, and the sound was mesmerizing. I stuck around for about an hour or so, taking pictures and filming it on my camera phone, and just loving the music. He was pretty good.

He seemed a really nice guy, and was kind kind enough to explain what it was, and how it worked. He even said I could have a go. I refused, as I was scared I would break it. In hindsight, it was a stupid decision, as I have no idea when that opportunity to play a pedal steel will present itself again.

Anyway, it was great experience, and chilling out at Toyama train station, where I missed my train twice listening to Mr Pedal Steel Man was well worth it.

I took some video of it on the phone, but I had no way of getting it onto
computer back then (I bought the wrong software for it, and was too lazy, and
cheap to get the right one)

The phone is back in England, so when I go back
will see if it still works, and if I can get it.
