Ok, so this isn't news. It's hardly even interesting, but the other day I got attacked by a squirrel. This squirrel. It tried to eat my foot. I was wearing slippers at the time, but that's not really an excuse to take a bite...
They're pretty scarce in England, or at least they hide from people, cos they know what they'll get if they didn't. People around UCLA are a little kinder, and the squirrels can often be seen eating nuts from the hands of some of the people in the food court. Well I guess this one thought I would be a source of food, so darted out and then just stared at me, like it was thinking "Feed me then!". I decided to play with it a little, to amuse myself while waiting for the bus, and that is when I found out how vicious it was. It darted around and decided to take little bites out of my toe. "That's not nice" I thought. I took a few pictures, as I thought that it wouldn't be too often that I would get this close to a squirrel. I also took some video footage of the beast with my phone (contained at the end of this entry). It was then that I noticed the marks on it's body, clumps of hair missing, a dodgy eye, a few scratch marks, all signs that this was definitely a crazy little critter that had probably been in a few fights with other squirrels or something. I soon got bored of being attacked and decided to move away. Still convinced that I was a source of food, it stuck by me. It wasn't until one of the ground staff came along and threatened it with a leaf blower that it left me alone and darted off into the bushes. Next time I'll think twice before playing with the UCLA Squirrels.
While trying to find music to go with the footage of the crazy squirrel, I found a song by comedian Ray Stevens. The song Mississippi Squirrel Revival quite fits my story, nearly.
