Today marks the one month anniversay of The K Experience. It was one month ago that I placed my first journal entry about my favourite conbini in Japan. Since then, The K Experience has evolved in terms of content and design, and as a birthday gift to the site, I shall be posting some of my favourite things, animated Jazz videos. A lot has changed within the month. The main thing and the first thing was the look of the site. Wanting to keep it simple, I looked around for a good template choosing JA Koniga.
I found this way too busy as I wanted to have people concentrate on the content. So I took to getting rid of a lot of the colour, the pictures, the formatting and all the other stuff, requiring a lot of CSS investigation and manipulation. I also added an extra right column to cater for the RSS feeds and ads. I think it's sometimes more difficult to get rid of stuff than it is to create stuff, expecially when you didn't create it in the first place. It then changed to this
before settling with the current design, which i'm quite happy with.
As well as changing in design, it has improved in position on search engines too, appearing at the top in google and yahoo searches when typing in "The K Experience". See this article for what it was like a month ago. Including my first ever post about the Daily Yamazaki by my old school in Takaoka, I have written 31 journal entries (shouldn't really include the web videos, but I will anyway), and 7 galleries.
My next website, K's Photo Website is still live and was the original website on this domain okeiweb.com. I will talk about the origin of the domain name "okeiweb" in another journal entry (if i remember). The K Experience is my latest site, and is really a mixture of the two previous sites, using more modern web authoring tools, namely Joomla with PHP SQL and Apache, the last three are all taken care of by the hosting company Heart Internet, to whome I am most grateful, for the excellent support. The experience to do this on Joomla has come from three other Joomla websites that I have done, two of which were not for myself, but are pretty good if I do say so myself. Webdesign, and authoring is still a learning process for me, as I always try and strive to improve. But for this one I want to concentrate on the content derived from the pictures and video footage that I have collected from my various escapades. That is and will remain the main focus of this online journal for as long as it exists. Well I hope you all like it, let's see how it evolved from here, and I hope you enjoy the jazz.
