Snail

Thought I would change the pace a bit and write about snails today. Did you know that they can live up to 15 years? I think they're pretty cool...

Sometimes I feel that I'm living life at such a high speed that I'm not really living life at all. It feels like it's going way too fast for me to notice what's going on. Sometimes, it's just nice to relax and takes things in. That's why I think snails are pretty cool. They just take their time, and move along at their own pace (not that they have much choice, but that's not my point). It would be nice if we could take things slower sometimes, or at least more often. Then we wouldn't have to wait until we fall ill to take it easy, which is usually the case.

Anyway, back to snails. There's actually quite a lot to them. They're not just random blobs of goo stuck in a shell, like some may think. They have lungs, and livers, and kidneys and everything.

Who would have thought it? However, I don't think that's the best place to have an anus.

Anyway, here's a few snail facts I found from a random snail website.

  • The largest land snail ever found was 15 inches long and weighed 2 pounds!
  • The thick slime that a snail produces allows them to crawl across the edge of a razor and not get hurt.
  • Some snails have been known to live up to 15 years.
  • Snails are hermaphrodites which means that they have both male and female reproductive organs.
  • They rely mainly on touch and smell because they have very poor eyesight.
  • Snails cannot hear.
  • Snails are nocturnal animals which means they are more active at night.
  • The fastest snails are the speckled garden snails which can move up to 55 yards per hour compared 23 inches per hour of most other land snails.
  • Garden snails hibernate during the winter and live on their stored fat.
  • Garden snails breathe with lungs.

Very interesting writing on snails and I do agree on people living at a fast
pace but end up not living life.

Have a Great Day
