"What was that? Elections happened in Africa? No fighting? No commotion? Democratic you say? In Africa? When?"
Yes, indeed. The changeover was last week, and there was hardly any coverage in Western mainstream media...
Atta-Mills took over from John Agyekum Kufuor, who had been president for the last two terms, and had led Ghana through peaceful, safe and prosperous times. I only hope that this will continue under the leadership of Atta-Mill. Many feel that the NDC represents what Ghana had been, under the leadership of Rawlings in the 80's and 90's, which many saw as dictatorial and dangerous. So are understandably worried about their return to power. However I feel that things will be different from before, and much better. Ghana is still seen as an example to the other African nations, I just hope Atta-Mills doesn't screw things up. Although, I'm sure that if he did, the Western Media would be all over it like kids in a candy store.
