News items currently on RSS feed to my site regarding Japan and my opinion:
There are few things I hate more than misleading news. One of those is non-news. Why would ANYONE care that KFC in Japan were raising the prices of their chicken pieces by 20cents?... Yes, by 20yen which is 20cents or 10pence. That's it!!! And this is news? What's going on? And just incase you were wondering, in the current Japanese economy 20yen IS NOTHING!!!! The smallest denomination you can buy something with is 100yen, which will get you...a nail clipper or a rubbish CD or....a scarf....or...no not even a scarf, well maybe a rubbish one, made of paper or something. "But it all adds up though", you may be saying. Yea, true, if you buy 10piece buckets on a daily basis.
The news article as reported by Japan Today, as well as AOL News and Breitbart.com (never heard of Breitbart.com before I googled KFC Japan news) is as follows:
OK, so it's the first price increase in 16 years. No...I still don't care! But I guess the news would be more relevant for someone living in Japan. So I think back to 2003, when I used to live there...No, I still wouldn't have cared. But there could be other reasons, like maybe cos I'm not Japanese? Although I doubt Japanese people would care more than me (would be great to hear from any Japanese people in or out of Japan on this). Some people have actually commented on the Japan Today news article about the price hike (if you can call that a hike). Maybe it's cos I prefer There could however, be another reason for the news. This could be an attempt to indirectly report news about the current economic state of Japan. The price of KFC chicken pieces could be like an indicator much like the price of banana's, or oil. ..."Business in Japan are suffering so bad at present that the price of KFC pieces have increased 20yen...". Naa, I don't think so. Whatever the reason, I'm sure it shouldn't have been in my top 5 feeds for Japanese news. Picture of Shinjuku KFC from whoisuncle.com
