This happens to be one of my favorite Julius and Friends cartoons, and thought it would be nice to feature it here to celebrate The K Experience's 6 month mark. I know it's not that long, but hey if I celebrated after 1 month, then it only makes sense to mark the 6th.
Julius is the creation of fashion designer Paul Frank. I got into the designs when I was in England, and noticed that it was mostly my Australian friends that were sporting the t-shirts. I could find only one shop in the whole of Central London that sold Paul Frank stuff, and that was Mooks on Carnaby Street, probably the best street for shopping in London, if you can afford it (which I couldn't). The stuff was kind of expensive, I bought a T-shirt for myself and a friend, and they cost about £25 a piece (about $50). I got a fake Julius T-shirt from Malaysia when I was there, and that cost me about £3 ($6) or so.
I still have both T-shirts, and I'm not quite sure why one is about 9 times more expensive than the other. I also bought a Paul Frank watch (£50, $100)for my Japanese Teacher of English that I worked with on JET. She came to visit me while on the way to Greece for the summer Olympics of 2004.
Here in LA, there are way more places to get Paul Frank stuff, but it seems like it's more of a feminine, ladies clothes kind of thing. I hardly see guys wearing Paul Frank stuff at all. I wonder why. You can check out the great clothes and other Julius and Friends animations from the Paul Frank Website. [Source: Picture of Julius from divalyssciousmoms.com.]
